Jillian Ryan, registered audiologist and owner of NewLife Hearing, is an empathetic and caring hearing healthcare professional who has cultivated a patient-family-centered approach to audiology. This passion for hearing health and quality patient care directly led to the creation of Newlife Hearing Health Centre in 2012. Jillian’s passion in opening Newlife was to offer a different hearing health experience focused on building meaningful patient relationships that support the journey to better hearing every step of the way.

Jillian obtained a Bachelor of Science (BioChemistry) degree from Memorial University and then went on to pursue Audiology as a passion and profession. She completed a Master of Science (Audiology) degree from Dalhousie University in 2003. Jillian embarked on a career path that allowed her to experience the full perspective of hearing health from clinical to research audiology. In her professional career to date, Jillian has worked in both private and public sector patient care settings, and has applied her skills and family-focused approach with patients of all ages.

Jillian’s home and heart has always been in St. John’s, which is why she jumped at the chance to move home and take a position as a clinical audiologist with Eastern Health (Janeway) in 2009. Following this move home, Jillian quickly became a committed and active leader in the Newfoundland and Labrador hearing community. Her clinical work as a Cochlear Implant Audiologist at the Janeway, combined with an active role with the Canadian Hard of Hearing (NL), allowed her to better understand the needs, expectations and challenges of local patients and their families. Jillian’s passion and expertise in rehabilitative audiology have been shaped by her professional experiences and related volunteer pursuits. She leverages this expertise in building practical solutions for her patients in the journey to better hearing.

Jillian lives in St. John’s with her husband Shawn and her two boys Conor and Liam. You will often find Jillian in hockey rinks and soccer fields all around the St. John’s and metro areas. She loves raising her two boys and taking part in their sporting activities. Jillian has such a passion for helping those with hearing loss and guiding her patients and their families on their journey to better hearing health. She is commitment to long-term patient care, supported by patient education and empowerment to “get your life back.”
