Hearing Aid

Advancements

Hearing aid technology has advanced remarkably over the years. These advancements in technology have greatly impacted the overall success stories of patients wearing hearing aids. Hearing aids now act like mini computers analyzing the various sounds in your environment, adapting to each listening situation, allowing for better satisfaction and ease of use. Hearing aids today have reached such a level of sophistication that they are barely detectable, provide superior sound, and are more user-friendly than ever. They offer clearer sound, better separation of desired speech from unwanted noise, and reduced whistling or feedback. Most patients now report that they wish they didn't wait as long as they did!

At NewLife Hearing we believe that your hearing aids should work in all aspects of your life. Whether it's talking on a land line, your cell phone, watching TV or trying to communicate in a challenging environment such as a restaurant or a car; wireless technology now allows us to do so easier than ever. Special telephones are available that can connect directly to your hearing aids. Cell phones have become smarter, and with new technology it allows you to listen to music or talk on the phone without even taking it out of your pocket. Personalized Apps are available to ensure a more customized approach to your communication. Connectivity has had a significant impact on our ability to improve the quality of life of our patients.

Hearing Aid Styles

Behind-the-Ear Hearing Aids

Behind the Ear (BTE)

As the name implies, these hearing aids are worn behind the ear and require a custom ear mold.

In-the-Ear Hearing Aids

In the Ear (ITE)

ITEs are custom hearing aids that fit in the outer ear bowl.

Completely in the Canal Hearing Aids

Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC)

These hearing aids are designed to fit entirely within the ear canal, and are custom-made to fit the ear canal.

In-the-Canal Hearing Aids

In-The-Canal (ITC)

ITC hearing aids are custom-built to fit almost completely within the ear canal.

Open-Ear Open-Fit Hearing Aids

Open-Ear / Open-Fit

These hearing aids typically consist of small housing that sits behind the ear, with a very fine, clear tube running over the top of the ear, into the ear. This results in an open design without a “plugging” of the ear.

Receiver-in-the-canal Hearing Aids

Receiver-In-Canal/Receiver-In-The-Ear (RIC/RITE)

With these hearing aids, the speaker/receiver is placed inside the user’s ear canal, reducing the size of the housing behind the ear. RICs/RITEs are considered the most discreet and aesthetically pleasing of all hearing aids.
